Dr Michael Yap's practice is mainly in general neurology with a background of Internal Medicine, as many patients who encounter severe neurological problems also have associated general medical problems, which require admission. Much of the outpatient clinic work is to assess a neurological problem referred by general practitioners. Most patients will not need further neurological follow-up after investigations completed and diagnosis made. Dr Yap's particular interest is in making the diagnosis for patients with difficult and unusual headaches, giddiness, fainting or loss of consciousness, neckaches, backaches, and difficulty with moving the upper or lower limbs including weakness or numbness. EMG studies can also be done in his clinic.
